Gratitude

Tonight a bunch of us feasted on delicious food made by participants in our BUILD WITH HAITI group and a couple of magnificent friends, too. The board members of campus ministries in the area enjoyed this menu:

Rice and Beans w/ Ti Malice
Haitian Salad
Fried Plantains
Mango Pie and Buttery Orange Raisin Cake

Alongside the delicious food, I was so aware also that we enjoyed plentiful cold, clean water and sweet juices.

As this long day ends, I collapse with gratitude overflowing for each task undertaken by planners, shoppers, cooks, servers, and dishwashers. And grateful, too, for all that the generous board members and our friends contributed to make this dinner also a great fund raising success for the trip and extending our support of Haiti Partners. (Totals will be posted asap, when accounting is complete. Believe me, the numbers are FABULOUS!)

Meanwhile, many of us are making visits to doctor's offices in prep for the trip. All the while we join hearts to pray: for open hearts and minds, safe travels and homecomings, and in great expectations for all that we will begin to encounter in just two weeks' time. For anyone who hasn't yet read Kent's new book, try to find up a copy and the time to read it. His reflections are gripping, honest, real. If you buy it through the link below, you'll contribute to the trip, too!
